$100K awarded to local nonprofits
The Harvard Allston Partnership Fund (HAPF) announced today that 10 local nonprofits will receive grants totaling $100,000 to support programs in the Allston-Brighton community.

Teens learn and earn at Harvard
Despite a bleak forecast for summer jobs for teenagers, Harvard employed more than 150 teens from Boston and Cambridge to work throughout the University. According to the teens, the skills they acquired include some valuable life lessons.

House renewal supports local economy
Harvard University today announced plans to undertake a wide-ranging construction program that will result in the creation of nearly 3,600 local construction jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in new local economic activity while ultimately funneling approximately $10 million into Cambridge city coffers in permitting fees alone.

Into local libraries, and into lives
The John Harvard Book Celebration program included the donation of more than 400 books to libraries, 17 lectures by Harvard faculty and members of Harvard’s Board of Overseers at local libraries, and 18 programs for children and youth. The programming reached more than 200 children and youth in the Greater Boston area this spring, concluding with this event in late April.
